Hey, It’s my first time on the site. I’m looking forward to checking it out on a regular basis. I lead worship at Westside Church of Christ in Beaverton, Oregon and am always looking for more resources and ways to connect with other people in this ministry.
As for the question, my one bit of general advice would be to not pretend it isn’t there. If you have a distraction in your service, one way of difusing it is to give people permission to laugh about it or assimilate it by commenting on it. If you can infuse some appropriate levity about a screaming baby or dripping water pipe, people can acknowledge it, chuckle about it and then move on instead of stewing about it the whole time they are praising. It’s not a rule or a perfect solution, just a thought.
